Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Guard Members to the White House

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He added that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told the press. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Support

Community members assembled over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to aid public safety in the capital.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that educators wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”

Funeral arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.

Judicial Steps and Government Adjustments

Law enforcement have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the government to suspend refugee claims and halt granting entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told a news show that she aimed to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a military police officer with distinction, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor told the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
