An extensive 60-day voyage circling Australia has been cancelled days after the tragic passing of an senior woman who was stranded by the cruise liner on a distant tropical isle.

Suzanne Rees had been walking on the tropical location with other travelers from the cruise ship, but separated from the group for a pause. The vessel sailed away leaving her and returned several hours later after the personnel became aware the passenger was unaccounted for.

A large-scale search operation located her remains the following day.

Officials are looking into the tragedy, in coordination with police and the medical examiner.

Chief Executive of the shipping company announced that travelers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were told that the continuation of the cruise had been called off due to the "sad loss and earlier engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he further stated that passengers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the company was working "to arrange the return journeys of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Authorities also issued an revised announcement, and said they had "delivered a order to the Captain" preventing any further travelers from boarding the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would attend the ship in the port city upon its arrival.

Sequence of Events

The vessel originally sailed from the Australian port on October 24th, and was merely two days into the voyage at the time of the senior passenger's demise. The tropical location was the opening port on the itinerary.

Travelers on the ship - who usually pay tens of thousands of money to take part in the voyage - were transported there for a daily excursion with the option of trekking or snorkeling.

Next of Kin Reaction

The daughter of the deceased woman said that her loved ones was "stunned and distressed that the liner left the location after an organised outing without my mother".

In her statement, she portrayed her mum as an "active elderly person" who was a member of a bushwalking club.

"From the little facts we have been told, it appears that there was a failure of care and common sense," she stated.

She continued that she desired the inquiry would be able to pinpoint what "the operator should have performed that might have preserved Mum's life".

"Based on information from the authorities that it was a very hot period, and mum fell ill on the hill climb," she revealed.

"They requested her to head down, without accompaniment. Then the boat departed, apparently without conducting a headcount.

"At some stage in that process, or shortly after, mum passed away, alone."

Organization Response

Through an announcement, the Chief Executive affirmed that the operator was "cooperating fully with authorities to assist their investigation".

He said that the organization was "deeply sorry that this has transpired" and had provided its full support to the family.

The vessel accommodates up to one hundred twenty travelers with 46 personnel, according to official information. It was specially constructed to access remote areas of the nation's shoreline and is fitted with "tenders" - minor craft used to transport individuals on land visits.

Occurrences like this are uncommon, and cruise ships have procedures to track which passengers are boarding or disembarking, according to travel authorities.

"Leaving covertly or [back] onboard simply isn't an option," one expert remarked.

Vessel operators regard these procedures with great importance and have "clever tech in place to prevent such incidents from occurring," the specialist added.

"This appears to be presumably a shocking - and unfortunate - single occurrence."
