According to new allegations from a informant, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a two-decade sentence for sex-trafficking crimes, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the presidential administration.

Special Treatment Claimed at Federal Prison

House Democrats on the House judiciary committee revealed that a whistleblower provided information indicating the inmate is preparing the commutation application. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, stated in a news release that the prison’s warden was “helping” the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the “commutation application” are unclear, the congressman noted.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, per the insider, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are “personally delivered” to her living area, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for her and her visitors.

The visits reportedly involve a designated private space for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an exceptional measure given the security risk and potential for unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was provided directions about instructing her associates to call and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told House Democrats that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the warden as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The news release states that those writing to her would email documents directly to the warden, who would hand them over to the inmate, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the official to scan and provide to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Reported

Further perks reportedly provided to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the facility's gym.

Her legal counsel has not yet replied to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the White House said that it “will not discuss” on potential clemency requests.

“As President Trump has stated, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in electronic messages that she was more content at the new prison than her previous prison.

This past summer, Maxwell was moved from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most detainees are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as “unprecedented”, occurred just days after she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, the official, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

That interview came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in that year while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

In the news release, Raskin also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, requesting explanations about the insider's claims, and called on the chief executive to reject the clemency appeal.

“It would be inappropriate to approve any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant criminal,” the representative stated in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any preferential handling or institutional privilege at all.”

The congressman asked that the official appear for a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

He inquired whether he had talked about a possible clemency for the convict with the official or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to arrange her with the transfer or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether Maxwell, her lawyers, family or representatives have made any commitments to Trump or his legal team.

Raskin has asked for a reply to the questions by the specified date.

In October, the US supreme court rejected an appeal from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
