Close to 25,000 Lost Power in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Storms
Around twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland found themselves without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events passed over the region, bringing wind gusts reaching 109km/h.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Broad Destruction
Locals observed substantial frozen pellets as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that various areas across the state had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams working to handle the widespread outages.
Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, nearly 1,000 residents in the southern state also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams received over five hundred emergency reports across the region, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

- Hoppers Crossing suburb - numerous rescue reports
- Wyndham - nearly 180 emergency requests
At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a atmospheric system continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was expected to become the wettest day, with ongoing thunderstorm potential anticipated across different parts of both areas.
Safety Concern
Health officials warned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to major medical consequences in the region.
